The iPhone users can get the new iPhone 3G S for a starting price of $199, but existing iPhone 3G owners have to pay $399 or more to upgrade.

The policy doesn't make sense: Most companies try to hang on to return customers. So why are AT&T (NYSE: T) and Apple apparently penalizing return customers -- charging people who bought last year's iPhone 3G a $200 premium to upgrade to the new iPhone 3G S?

The answer has to do with the practice of "subsidies," the standard way that cell phoneset sold in the United States. It works out well for consumers, at least most of the time. It remains to be seen whether the subsidy process has broken down in the case of the iPhone 3G S, or if complaints are coming from a tiny, but vocal, minority.

Apple introduced the iPhone 3G S at its annual Worldwide Developer Conference on Monday. The device offers a processor upgrade and other hardware improvements that boost performance by double or triple previous models. The new phones now include video recording, a better still camera, and a built-in compass to improve location-based applications. The phones also have double the storage of current models. The price is $199 for 16 GB of memory, $299 for a 32-GB model -- for most users. For people who bought an iPhone 3G, the price is $200 higher.

The iPhone 3.0 will feature the 802.11N Broadcom BCM4329 Wi-Fi chip, making possible wireless downloads of up to four times the speed of 802.11G. To save bandwidth for carriers, it's likely that Apple will restrict video downloading to iPhones that are connected via Wi-FI.

Relying Nokia sources Eldar Murtazin has reported that the reason for the high price is that the Spanish handset comes bundled with a gift worth €100 euros, including music download and three months of voice navigation licence.
The manufacturer still wants to maintain the net price of 279 eruos, but all countries are free to decide whether they want to ship the phone with any other extra gifts. In Spain Nokia clearly wants to take advantage of the Christmas shopping wave, and the service, worth 100 euros and available only in Spain, makes it harder to take the phone as an alternative to other markets Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be available early next year in Europe and it will be available without extra services as well. In late 2007 Nokia introduced an updated version of their best-selling Nokia N95 smartphonecalled the Nokia N95 8GB. The Nokia N95 8GB has a physically larger 2.8 inch screen, a bigger battery, more pronounced multimedia buttons, more RAM for running games and applications, 8 gigabytes of built-in storage space, and various other hardware improvements.

The Nokia N95 8GB NAM is compatible with 50/1900 MHz HSDPA wireless data network found on AT&T in the U.S. It features 8GB flash drive and a larger 2.8-inch QVGA display with 16 million colors, more RAM, a better battery and support for the N-Gage gaming service.

Other specs include an incorporated GPS receiver with some preloaded US maps, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. The smartphone is based on the Symbian S60 3rd Edition software and supports Nokia Share Online 3.0 for consumers to upload photos and videos on Flickr or Vox.

we knew that the Motorola Razr, at least in some form, would make Motorola Razr to Sprint Nextel. Though the original Razr V3 is more than five years old, and Motorola has pumped out dozens of revamps, Motorola Razr has made it to every other carrier.

And even though Nextel tends to shy away from thin, flashy devices, we just couldn't believe that Moto would pass up the opportunity to make an iDEN Razr.

Motorola ZINE ZN5 has candybar form factor which means few moving parts, few points of failure. The only moving part is the camera lens cover that acts as a camera switch which invokes the camera function. Motorola ZINE ZN5 has no 3G access but haswifi/ 802.11b /g which is helpfull if you don’t have a data plan. Motorola ZINE ZN5 could help in passing time while waiting for my better half to finish shopping. No built in GPS but has bluetooth connectivity. Navigation will be by subscription or buying a third party software.

Furthermore, Motorola ZINE ZN5 has FM radio receiver which has a good reception considering about 30 miles away fromthe broadcasting station. Music plays loud and clear specially for the stored MP3s. It can support up to 4GB of extra micro SD memory. The pictures look stunning, just let the camera focus to the subject before you take that photo.

The Motorola i9's feature set doesn't improve very much upon recent Razr models, but it remains a solid midrange model for communication and multimedia. Motorola i9 offers push-to-talk,a 3.1-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and a music player. Call quality was decent--voices sounded a bit robotic, but we could carry on a conversation without any real problems. Besides Nextel,you also can get the i9 with Boost Mobile. The Nextel price is $199 with a contract, while contract-free Boost charges $299.

The Nokia Nseries is aimed at users looking to pack as many features as possible into one as are the video and music playback and photo viewing capabilities of these devices, which resemble those of standalone portable media devices.

In all recently launched devices GPS, MP3 player and WLAN functionality also have been present.
The first Nseries device, the N90, utilised the older Symbian 8.1 OS, as did the N70. Subsequently Nokia switched to using SymbianOS 9 for all later Nseries devices (except the N72,which was based on the N70). Newer Nseries devices incorporate newer revisions of SymbianOS 9 that include Feature Packs.

The N800 and N810 internet tablets are the only Nseries devices to not use Symbian OS. They use the Linux-based Internet Tablet OS and an open source development platform called maemo.

Nokia was announced a new brand of multimedia devices at the press conference of mobile phone manufacturer in Amsterdam On 27 April 2005. The first three N series devices introduced at the conference consists of N70, N90 and N91. Secondly, On 2 November 2005, Nokia announced more n type- the N71, N80 and N92, and on 25 April 2006, Nokia announced the N72, N73 and N93, and on 26 Sept ember 2006.

In addition, Nokia announced the N75 and N95, On 8 January 2007. Nokia also announced the Nokia N76, Nokia N77 and Nokia N93, On 29 August 2007. Nokia announced it's N95 8GB, N81, N81 8GB, and on 14 November 2007, Nokia announced the N82. At the 2008 GSMA held in Barcelona, the N96 and N78 were unveiled. Two new Nseries devices were revealed at the end of August 2008, the Nokia N79 and Nokia N85.

Finally, On December 2, 2008, Nokia Nseries announced the Nokia N97.

For developers Apple is making it easier to create iPhone applications, that could increase its smartphone market share.

Makers of powerful, Internet-connected smartphones have been racing to respond past two years to the innovations unleashed by Apple's iPhone. While the makers have taken steps to narrow the gap, Apple may have just pulled further ahead.
Through a series of capabilities unveiled on Mar. 17 Apple is doing that. This make it easier for software developers to create nifty iPhone applications.The Apple presented both a major update of its iPhone software and details of a software developer kit in a packed auditorium at Apple's Cupertino (Calif.) campus.

This activity shows Apple will further confirm its position as the platform of choice for software developers—and as a result, many consumers. Just only eight months, programmers have created 25,000 applications that are available on Apple's online App Store. Of those programmers, 62% had never written anything for an Apple product.

Interestingly, consumers have downloaded more than 800 million of these apps, which include everything from games like Tetris to software that helps diabetes patients manage insulin levels. Obviously, the wide range of apps is a major reason the iPhone quickly jumped to No. 3 in the cutthroat smartphone market.

Nokia has bring Aeon concept which is going to compeet with the Apples iphone.Nokia has already released images of the Aeon concept and the pictures say that the device would sport two touch-sensitive panels mounted on a fuel-cell power pack. Nokia has set to charm the world with an absolute stunner of a phone.

Nokia Aeon is a touchscreen and is extremely thin shiny mobile. It is belive that the Nokia Aeon will have all that needs to heet the Apple iPhone in a competitive market in the whole world. Apple has not a major power in the cell phone market outside US despite the iPhone being available in many countries now. But, Nokia has. All they need is a brilliant product, and the Nokia Aeon looks like it can do that.
Nokia, If really manages to come out with a phone that resembles the design of the Aeon,it has the strength to really become the aspirational phone, instead of the iPhone.The touch-screen displays of the Nokia aeon control all the keys that are virtual. The Aeon continues with Nokia’s recent ventures that all of which follow the wearable technology vision. It is nice that finally Nokia is apparently keeping up with Apple and the whole world would be glad to see a realistic alternative the iPhone.
Though, Nokia has not let out a date for the official launch of the Nokia Aeon, it is expected that very soon it will come.
